Changes Coming March 19th for Washington Taxpayers

The Department of Revenue is launching a new e-filing system on March 19th and there are several actions that taxpayers will need to do before they can file their next tax return. Due to the change, monthly filers have until April 5th to file their February tax return (which won’t be available for filing until March 19th).

In preparation for the change, businesses should consider doing the following:

  • The new system uses the Secure Access Washington (SAW) login system. Many businesses already have a SAW login for other state licenses or registrations. Persons filing tax returns should ensure they have this login or create a new one if necessary. This can be done prior to March 19th.
  • Block off some time after noon on March 19th to learn about the new system and transfer the business’ prior account information. Any electronic funds transfer information will also need to be entered into the new system prior to filing.

Additional information is available on the website, linked off the main page, including timelines and FAQ. However if you have specific questions, the DOR is offering webinars on the new system. See website for dates and times.
