New Reporting Requirements for Public Works Contract Coming in 2020

Changes are on the horizon in regards to your payroll reporting to the Department of Labor & Industries for contracts subject to prevailing wage laws. Starting on January 1st, 2020, weekly certified-payroll reports must be filed online with L&I, no less than once per month. These new filing requirements affect all new public-works projects that will take place in 2020, in addition to projects started in 2019 that remain in progress. Each contractor is required to use L&I’s online system to file their certified payroll. It should be noted that contractors can be penalized for failing to file.

If you wish to learn more, or view step-by-step instructions on how to access and file certified payroll, please reference AGC’s article regarding the new payroll requirement for further information. As always, feel free to reach out to your Berntson Porter representative for additional information.
