Unemployed Veteran Hiring Incentive

There is a new WA tax credit available against either the Business and Occupation tax or the Public Utility Tax for companies hiring unemployed veterans. Qualifying hires must be employed after Oct 1, 2016 and must be employed by the business for half a year for credits to be earned.  Prior to hire the veteran must have been unemployed for at least 30 days to qualify. Qualifying hires can generate tax credits for their employer of up to $1500 per veteran.

There are additional qualifications and credit limitations, see the link below for more details.  The business will also need to file an annual tax incentive survey each year the credit is claimed, which is due the following May 31st.
