HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR
The Human Resources Director is an integral member of the firm and is responsible for the human resource function of the firm. A Director with operational experience is a plus for this position. This is a responsible position that involves administering human resource policies, programs and practices: including planning, organizing, developing, implementing, coordinating and directing. Duties include formulating policies and procedures for the Human Resources Department and recommending policies and best practices to the principals of the firm. The Human Resource Director is accountable for attracting, developing and retaining a talented workforce ensuring that Berntson Porter & Company is the employer of choice.
Essential Functions:
Recruiting
- Develops entry level and experience hire recruitment plans that are aligned with the firms strategic plan and flows from the Departments needs
- Work with Department Leaders to plan hiring needs, lead interview process and develop competitive offers
- Manage and attend campus recruiting, including career fairs and conduct campus interviews
- Develop and maintain relationships with accounting professors and Beta Alpha Psi chapters
- Manage recruiting of practicing professionals, including accepting and selecting resumes, prescreening candidates, and conducting initial interviews
- Responsible for hiring process including implementing background checks, reference checks and writing offer letters
- Work with Marketing Department to develop recruiting materials
- Manage new employee orientation process and ensure new employees assimilation into the firm
Career Development
- Manages Berntson Porter & Companys coaching program ensuring that staff are being coached and that coaches are effectively trained and assigned
- Develops management training program for interviewing, managing and evaluating staff
- Monitors performance evaluation program and goal setting ensuring the alignment between reward/recognition and individual/firm performance
- Annually rewrites job descriptions, as necessary; conducts annual salary surveys, analyzes compensation and revises performance evaluation process, as necessary
- Counsels professionals on continuing education recommendations and career opportunities
- Monitors professional staff continuing education to ensure that employees have the appropriate education for their development and that all compliance requirements are met
Retention
- Identifies opportunities for enhancement of firm culture, employee relations and environment based on employee and organization feedback
- Develops, recommends and implements procedures that are consistent with the firms vision and core policies, yet responsive to the market
- Oversees and evaluates employees flexible work arrangements
- Supports and champions a culture that values all people
- Listens to concerns of personnel and resolves them, where appropriate
General Human Resource Duties
- Ensures compliance with all employment and benefit laws and regulations
- Ensures compliance with Berntson Porter & Company policies and procedures
- Annually reviews benefit package to ensure competitiveness
- Oversees maintenance of Employee Handbook
- Conducts exit interviews
- Demonstrates leadership in the areas of change and teamwork
- Maintains firm organization chart and all employee information
- Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems
- Other HR duties as may be assigned

Education and Experience Required
- Bachelors degree and a minimum of 7 years of human resources experience
- PHR Certification preferred

- Professional services firm experience preferred
